A week or so ago, I read in the paper about a march that would be taking place in DC on the 10th.
How cool was this? They were even bringing a teepee (or is it tipi?) encampment! Since I completely agree with them and I have never seen a real-life teepee, I knew that I had to go. Since I had to work on Friday, I decided to check it out on Thursday night. Keegan had crew practice, Anais had work and Dean was picking up Keegan from practice, so that left just Isabel and I. After dropping Keegan off, we returned home and walked (well, I walked…Isabel rode in the stroller) to the metro. We arrived just as the sun was starting to go down.
First, we walked towards the Capital, but I soon realized that the encampment was not there.
After a quick Google search, I found out that they were next to the Washington Monument, so we turned around. There was a beautiful sunset behind the Monument and I rushed to try to get there before the sun was totally gone.
At first, I couldn’t see anything, but as we got closer, I could see the encampment on the right side of the Monument, between the Monument and the White House…perfect spot!
We arrived just as the sun was disappearing on the horizon. The teepees were just beautiful!
I loved how they were placed defiantly, staring down at the White House!
It was a beautiful night! The moon was almost full, it wasn’t too cold. Isabel and I walked about, appreciating the sights and the reason that they were there. Isabel really appreciated the music and dancing!
All in all, it was a lovely night! 🙂
